I am thankful for the U.S. Coast Guard that is stationed at Coos Bay. We see their presence daily as they practice in their boats and helicopters, patrolling the coastline, and preparing for emergencies.

For a short time (about a year during high school) I thought I might join the Coast Guard. My father had been in the Coast Guard and it sounded like an interesting and challenging experience. Luckily for me, my parents talked me into college instead...it's where I met, Erik. And, the rest is history.
