"Dance of an open mind.."

"There is a certain kind of peace
that is not merely the absence of war.
It is larger than that.
The peace I am thinking of
is not at the mercy of history's rule,
nor is it a passive surrender to the status quo.
The peace I am thinking of
is the dance of an open mind
when it engages another equally open one --
an activity that occurs most naturally, most often
in the reading/writing world we live in.
Accessible as it is,
this particular kind of peace warrants vigilance."

-- Toni Morrison, The Dancing Mind (1996)

I am thankful for my first Digital Scrapbook lesson from my friend Liz Ness. The photo shows my beginning attempts to learn the art of Digital Scrapbooking. It was such a pleasure to work with Liz..."the dance of an open mind when it engages another equally open one--" I was able to understand the steps, took lots of notes and hopefully will have a chance to use my new found skill soon. Liz is a great teacher. It was also fun to meet her son Duncan, a very intelligent, polite, three year old boy.

Photo: "Is it a Girl or Is it a Boy?" first Digital Scrapbook project - draft to be completed after I remember the name of the Pizza Parlor we went to that night! Introducing cousin of Henry and Simon - Graham McDougall - blowing on the party favors, we all got to play with, as the announcement was read that John and Liz were going to have a baby girl.

Pati, thanks so much for spending the afternoon with us! I had such fun and it was hard to say goodbye. We'll definitely need to get together again -- and soon!

Also, I just love your page -- it's GREAT. You are an AWESOME student and such a great friend, too. Thanks so much for everything (including those wonderful gifts you gave us)!
