A Mother is the truest friend
"A mother is the truest friend we have,
when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us
when adversity takes the place of prosperity
when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine,
desert us when troubles thicken around us,
still will she cling to us,
and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels
to dissipate the clouds of darkness,
and cause peace to return to our hearts."
Washington Irving

My Mother has been my friend all my life! She is my birthday buddy. I was born on her 21st birthday. My Mother has Alzheimer's and is now very ill. I am with her trying to help with her care. Tonight I asked if I could do anything for her. She said, "Kiss me." I did and she said, "I love you so very much. God bless you." I'm here to help my Mother and she wants to make sure I know that she loves me with her words and actions. What peace it is to have a Mom who expresses love even when she is very ill and having trouble communicating. I am thankful and grateful for such a kind and loving Mother.

Mom,
What a beautiful post. I came to your blog this morning hoping to find a message about you being by your mother's side in this difficult time - and what I found brought me to tears. This is a true representation of the peace that grandma has deep within her heart. I'm happy that you're there with her.
I love you!
Jessica
Oh Pati, I'm so sorry that you and your mother must go through this. Though, it is beautiful how you both are together; so much love between you and such a strong bond that even her disease can't match.
HUGS to you and a little note just to let you know I care and am touched by how much both of you care for each other.
Thank you Patti for sharing this beautiful moment between you and your mother. The obvious love between you both shines through, even at this difficult time.
((hugs))
