The Peace of Wild Things

"When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water,
and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief.
I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light.
For a time I rest in the grace of the world,
and am free."

— Wendell Berry

I am thankful to have the opportunity to go fishing with Al on some of the beautiful rivers of Southern Oregon. I love to take photographs of the wildlife....I definitely feel the "peace of the wild things." The sounds, the sights and the beauty of nature is so peaceful and relaxing.

Mom,
It's so great that you have found something to enjoy within dad's favorite hobby. You're becoming quite skilled and taking pictures. Nice work!

I love this...you know it makes me remember an article I read about living in the moment. To really live there, we must let go of our regrets about the past and our worries about the future. Then, we are a peace because we simply are.
