"Poetry is an act of peace.
Peace goes into the making of a poet
as flour goes into the making of bread."

....and wheat goes into the making of bread. Our family heritage, on both my Mother and Father's side, is Eastern Oregon wheat farming. My parents always called wheat the "staff of life." There is a symbolism for me in this stained glass art work by the famous Frank Lloyd Wright; the concept that wheat is the basic product that nourishes and sustains our bodies, just as art, poetry and music nourish and sustain our minds and our souls. I am thankful for my family heritage, and for all the creative beauty of the arts in our world.

And there is peace in tilling the soil, planting the seed, and harvesting the crop. Hands in the soil, hearts to God. Thank you for reminding me..........Sheri
