Pursuit of Peace & Wild Steelhead
"The pursuit of peace and progress
cannot end in a few years in either victory or defeat.
The pursuit of peace and progress,
with its trials and its errors,
its successes and its setbacks,
can never be relaxed and never abandoned."
Dag Hammarskjold
Dag Hammarskjold Quotes
Second Secretary-General of the United Nations (1953-1961)
Nobel Peace Prize 1961
The "Pursuit of peace and progress" in our personal lives, our families lives, our country, our world - or even fishing does requires continued vigilance. Alertness, awareness, attentiveness, watchfulness and many more synonyms of vigilance come to mind after reading Dag Hammarskjold's quote. I am thankful that so many people have given their lives in the pursuit of peace and progress in our country and in our world. I pray that someday our world will be able to pursue peace in a non-violent manner; that words will be able to take the place of weapons.
In relation to catching a fish, Al knows a lot about never abandoning the "pursuit of peace and progress." Al is really a great fisherman and knows how to find peace on the rivers of southern Oregon. They were also successful in their pursuit of the illusive wild Steelhead yesterday. Scott caught two Steelhead with all the excitement and fun of the search. Al never gives up. He has been fishing many times when they haven't even had a bite; spending the whole day on the river not even seeing a fish. Yesterday was the kind of day that fisherman live for; a beautiful, sunny, calm, peaceful day with two fish caught! The only thing missing was fish for dinner as wild Steelhead are catch and release fish. It's always nice to have a camera to record the beauty of the fish.

Great picture! Love the variety of quotes and topics with which you integrate peace.
What a great photo! And what great fodder for fish tales still untold ("Really, it was this big!")!
Fishing can be such a peaceful activity, too. I love to fish (I don't care if I catch anything...just love being out on the edge of a mountain lake). That said, WHAT A BIG FISH Al has caught! It's awesome -- think it would drag me into the water (heh-heh)!
nice catch!
so glad to see dad sharing his fishing expertise with others!
love you,
Jessica
