One of the books I am reading is "Peace is Every Step" by Thich Nhat Hanh. The Editor, Arnold Kotler, writes "Peace and happiness are available if we can only quiet our distracted thinking long enough to come back to the present moment and notice the blue sky, the child's smile, the beautiful sunrise."

'If we are peaceful, if we are happy,
we can smile, and everyone in our family,
our entire society, will benefit from our peace."

Thich Nhat Hanh

After reading the article on The Washington Post that Ali linked to, this is what I've been thinking a lot about. Seeing the beauty in the every day. Great quote.

And what a handsome picture of Simon. :)

I am so enjoying your "Daily Peace" blog. My word for Ali's challenge was PEACE, and lately I've been finding so many "peace" related things, including your blog. I'm sure there were lots of "peace" things out there before, but maybe now that I am seeking them out, they just seem to be so easy to find. Thank you for your reflections.

So beautiful, Pati. I love the notion of a smile as a signature of peace...so poetic.
