Today I choose...

"Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
To these I commit my day.
If I succeed, I will give thanks.
If I fail, I will seek His grace.
And then, when this day is done,
I will place my head on my pillow and rest."

Max Lucado
"Each Day I Choose"

I am thankful for the chance to practice all the virtues listed in this verse of the poem, "Each Day I Choose," by Max Lucado. I am thankful for the idea of "Grace." There was a time in my life when I was trying to figure out what "Grace" really meant. People would tell me it meant "Divine Love." That sounded encouraging, but the definition for Grace that has really resonated with me is "Divine Assitance;" that there is Divine Assitance available to us, to help us in our lives. I am thankful for Divine Assistance.

Photo: Seagull in our 92 year old neighbor's bird bath. The Seagulls take turns sitting in the bird bath where they can look eye to eye with Irene in her kitchen, which about three feet away. Talk about Divine Assistance! Irene is feeding those Seagulls hard boiled eggs that she peels and throws out to the awaiting flock. Many times the Seagulls will be squawking at Irene, as this Seagull appears to be doing, until she throws them an egg. Our neighborhood has the most beautiful white, healthy, Seagull's I have ever seen. 9/8/07

Hi, Pati. I LOVE seagulls! I grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, so I became aware of them early. I love the sounds they make, so hauting and beautiful. We have them here, in the middle of Michigan, if you can believe that. They hang out in parking lots. I'm not kidding. My husband calls them "parking lot gulls."

: )

Your seagull picture here is great, and I think it's lovely that your neighbor feeds them.

Hard boiled eggs!? That is so funny.
Those seaguls are like kids to Irene. What a gem of a person.

Enjoy!
