Work for Peace in the present moment.

"There are so many things that are enjoyable,
but when we don't practice mindfulness,
we don't appreciate them.
When we practice mindfulness,
we come to cherish these things
and we learn how to protect them.
By taking care of the present moment,
we take good care of the future.
Working for peace in the future
is to work for peace in the present moment."

Thich Nhat Hanh
"Peace is Every Step" pg.38

One of the things I am truly thankful for, and cherish, is the opportuntity to observe and photograph all the awesome sunsets here on the Oregon Coast. To be able to see the sun move across the horizon at different times of the year is an amazing site. I believe sunsets exemplify the spirit of peace; like this photo of the sun setting behind the Lighthouse, a symbol of a safe haven.

Wow. Awe-inspiring sunset. The picture is excellent, but I bet it doesn't do the actual sight justice. If I were one to envy, Pati, I would envy you. I visited the Oregon coast with a friend in 2005, and I was simply awed (that word again!) by the beauty. Maybe my husband and I can live there someday.

AMAZING photo! You seemed to have captured how vast and beautiful a sunset at the beach truly is...that is soooooo hard to do! Really love it!

PS: Thanks for your email today (you are so encouraging all the time and I am so grateful for your friendship)! Also, I've been wondering about the 365 photos. Thanks so much for mentioning them (and your experience). I have a few ideas on some improvements... =)
