Attaining Peace of Mind

"When you have attained peace of mind, your mind will automatically reject every thought and every mental reaction which is not beneficial to your welfare. Meanwhile, before you graduate into this desirable command of your mind, you will find it necessary to voluntarily throw off all negative mental influences which you do not wish to become a part of your character.

The "throwing off" consists of your forming the habit of transmuting negative thoughts into positive thoughts. How is this done, you ask? Simply by switching your mind away for unpleasant thoughts and training it on thoughts which are pleasant."

Napoleon Hill
"Success Unlimited" January 1956, No. 1, Volume 3. Pgs. 9-13

I want to be at that stage Napoleon Hill writes about - that Peace of Mind when my "mind will automatically reject every thought and every mental reaction which is not beneficial" to my welfare. Automatic sounds great. Alas, I am at the "throwing off" stage where I have to make a conscious choice to change my thoughts from negative to positive. I am practicing. I am thankful that there are so many books, and online Internet sites that can help me learn and focus on positive thinking and gratitude thoughts.

One of the pleasant and positive thoughts in this life are beautiful flowers. Jessica and Jeffrey filled the rental house at Gearheart with beautiful bouquets and the photo above is one of those bouquets for my birthday celebration. The positive thoughts of a loving family that makes the effort to be together for birthdays is also a positive thought to focus on! I feel gratitude for family, for beautiful flowers and for positive thoughts.
