"a spirit of peaceful coexistence."
"Life on Earth is about living in a community that is far happier
when there is a spirit of peaceful coexistence.
As John Donne stated in his classic meditation,
'No man is an island, entire of itself;
every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.'
Self-centered, egotistical, and narcissistic actions
that disregard the group in which we dwell
are decidedly not life-affirming."
Joann Davis - "The Best Things in Life Aren't Things" page 16
The joy of watching nature in "peaceful coexistence." I feel joy and peace as I watch Pelicans here on the Oregon Coast. I have observed and photographed hundreds of Pelicans. I have never seen them fighting with each other. They seem to work together as they fly, as they hunt for fish, as they sit on the rocks and rest. They are an awesome bird and I am thankful to have the opportunity to observe and photograph their lives. I pray that our society can learn something from the pelican's Peaceful behavior.

How cool! In the mountains, we used to have pelicans. Then, they disappeared for awhile. Now, they're back and I'm so happy to see them when I visit home.
I love them and I've never seen them be agressive either. How beautiful and what a great observation!
A beautiful photo to match your beautiful words.
Great having you back on Tuesdays Pati!
Pelicans, go figure that they have something wonderful to teach the "civilized" human.
