Art of Peace...a garden of Sweet Peas

[Merlin:] "To plant a garden is the chief of the arts of peace."

Mary Stewart, "The Last Enchantment"

I am thankful for the bountiful garden of flowers that Al has produced this summer. We have a beautiful garden with many flowers in the yard and cut flowers for our home. Al's "YES! Attitude" produced this crop of Sweet Peas. He's been working for several years to get them to bloom in his Secret Garden. The damp weather of the Oregon Coast makes it difficult to grow Sweet Peas, unless you have the perfect conditions. After many years of trial and error, Al has finally achieved almost "perfect conditions." We've had several bouquets in our home with their wonderful aroma filling the room.

Sweet Peas, one of my favorite flowers.

Such beautiful flowers -- bet the butterflies love them! Also, I dig that photo of Al. You seem like such an awesome couple!

Look at that big sweet pea in with all the others - what a smile! Love to see that. Miss you both already!

Beautiful flowers. I tried growing then at my last home and had a smattering of luck with them. However, I never got enough for a bouquet. Loved "The Last Enchantment", I might just go and reread it!
