Aveda established a partnership with women artisans in the Bajhang region of Nepal so that they receive fair payment for their handmade Lokta paper, which is showcased in the packaging of these holiday products. The partnership provides income to several hundred families and empowers Nepalese women to develop a sustainable business while helping to protect their land. The paper used in the gift sets and the Aveda gift card envelopes are handcrafted from the bark of the Lokta shrub, which grows in the Himalayas. The shrub is harvested without destroying the plant stock.
