Sacred space for Peace

"Identify an area within your home that you choose to designate as your sacred space, a place where you can get away from busy-ness and stress to find inner safety and peace. Imbue that area with love and harmony by declaring your intention for its use. Then arrange the space to suit its purpose, including a place to sit or mediatate, an altar, or whatever comforts you. Burn incense and candles in your space to help create a peaceful atmosphere.

Use your sacred space daily to practice spiritual rituals, pray, meditate, read uplifting books, or listen to peaceful music. Notice how the peace from your sacred scape begins to permeate the rest of your house."

Rae Thompson
"Ripples of Peace" pg.54

I am thankful for a "sacred space" in our Seattle area home. The gas fireplace is so wonderful for early morning, what I call RPM time, reading, praying and meditating. As you can see by the photo of my sacred space, I am a Christian. Included in my sacred area is a framed cross-stitich prayer of thank you to God for our three children: Ali, John and Jessica. (created in 1985) The other creative element is the wall hanging of crosses and Christian pins that I stitched to an heirloom doily from my Mother's family. I pray that the peace from this sacred space may permeate the rest of our house.

I love the glow that the light & fire cast off into the room, looks very inviting and comforting. Your blog brings me much peace in my crazy-busy day. My mom always used to tell my brother and me to "be still" when we were kids. I never understood that, and she said I would when I was older. Well, now I'm older and I understand and value the time I get to "be still". Taking the time to read your blog helps me "be still". Thanks Pati!

Oh wow, what an amazingly beautiful space, it emits peace.

Thanks for dropping by my blog, and thanks for your comments on my flowers. Flowers are in someway my peace. I love looking at them, growing them, photographing them and as you saw drawing them. What an empty world we would have if we didn't have flowers, they are truly a present from God.

I hope you drop on by again soon.
